My Soul to Keep is the second book I've read by Tananarive Due, and now I can confidentially say two things: 1) Due writes in a way that I'm instantly drawn into the story; her characters, all of them, come alive from page one; and, 2) She breathes new life into old ideas/ seemingly overdone, overused fantasy tropes. I loved the premise of My Soul to Keep especially where the Living Blood /5(18).   One of my top recommendations for anyone going through a challenging time, this book is playful, compassionate, and rich with resources, inquiries, and stories of transformation. Plus, this book first introduced me to Esalen Institute — the glorious place where I spent my mid’s healing, learning and growing. It’s a must-read!

Neuroanatomist Jill Bolte Taylor had an opportunity few brain scientists would wish for: One morning, she realized she was having a massiv. I reviewed this book under it's original title, "Lydia," but I wanted to repost it here so that readers of the updated version "The Soul of a Lady" can see it, too. Ms Luce's prose in "Lydia/The Soul of a Lady" is flowing and poetic, capturing the voice of the Regency age in a way I have seen others attempt but fail to achieve quite so fully/5(5).

Murdering The Mom: A Memoir resonates with me, for there are some aspects of this brilliantly written and insightful book that are eerily reminiscent of my mother and how she had to raise 10 of us. It is a beautiful journey. Peer Inside My Soul and See Me by De Ann Townes Jr is a very touching and sensual collection of poems. The collection starts with a quick speech to her muse, her inspiration, to me personally somewhat reminiscent of the beginning of Homers Iliad, I am not sure it was intended necessarily, but it was just the right way for me to open up to her poems/5.

Soul is closely related thematically to Platonov’s once-notorious anti-Stalinist satires Chevengur and The Foundation Pit, and its brooding, often poetically nuanced solidarity with humble characters’ lives links it with the highly praised short stories available in the English-language collection The Fierce and Beautiful World.
